Kim & Matt's Destination Wedding
An beautiful destination wedding in Isabela, Puerto Rico — full of ocean light, unhurried moments, and the kind of joy that photographs itself.
A Destination Wedding in Isabela, Puerto Rico
There are wedding days that unfold like they were choreographed, and then there are days like Kim and Matt's — days where everything just is. The light, the color, the joy, the guests fully present in every single moment. From the first sip of coffee at the getting-ready suite to the last dance under a Caribbean night sky, this Isabela wedding was as effortless as it was beautiful.
The Setting
Isabela sits on the northwest coast of Puerto Rico, where the Atlantic curls against limestone cliffs and the light does that thing at golden hour where everything looks like it was shot on film. It's the kind of place that gives you sunsets you didn't have to ask for and breezes off the ocean that solve wardrobe problems before they happen.
Kim and Matt chose it for reasons beyond the obvious — a family connection, a shared love of the coast, and the sense that a destination wedding could feel intimate rather than logistical. They were right.
Getting Ready
The morning began quiet. Champagne, close friends, the kind of easy laughter that photographs itself. I love a bridal suite that isn't performing — where the makeup artist and the bridesmaids and the moms are all just there, present, in the light. That's what Kim's morning felt like.
The Ceremony
Outdoor. Ocean in the background. A ceremony arch that framed the couple against the sky without competing with it. Kim's veil caught the wind halfway through the vows — one of those moments you can't stage and can't plan and can only be lucky enough to be pointing the camera in the right direction for.
The Reception
The reception ran late — the way the best ones do. Toasts that made everyone cry (in a good way). A first dance that felt more like a private moment they generously let 100 people watch. Sparklers at the exit, silhouettes against the last of the light. That kind of night.
What Made This Wedding Special
Some destination weddings are about the destination. This one was about Kim and Matt — the destination just happened to make them look even more like themselves. That's the mark of a real celebration: the location supports the couple, not the other way around.
